Built in 2012, Grace Place is designed to meet the housing needs of persons age 62 and older by providing affordable rental housing to Punxsutawney. The three story building has modern, energy efficient appliances, spacious floor plans and plush carpeting. The building houses 24 one or two bedroom units, with stairs and an elevator connecting the building. All apartments have solid wood cabinets, a pull cord alert system, internet access availability, individual controlled thermostats for heating and cooling and washer and dryer hookups. Building amenities will include a community room, library, rental office and spacious front porch on the first level for warmer days.
Grace Place Senior Housing is located in the heart of the charming borough of Punxsutawney. A part of Jefferson County, the borough was incorporated in 1850 and was populated by laborers, who profited from the vast amounts of coal in the region. More and more development began to happen, bringing in a variety of residents, industry and small businesses. Punxsutawney is most known for being the home of Punxsutawney Phil, who every February 2nd, predicts how long spring will last. People travel all over the country to the borough on February 2nd, better known as: Groundhog’s Day” for the festivities. Grace Place Senior Housing is in walking distance to many of the shops, churches and parks in Downtown Punxsutawney.
